As I watched newsreel clips of the year’s news big events on TV, I was reminded of my own year of highs and lows. It didn’t include a royal wedding, but on balance it was a fine year, I have to say. First and foremost, I finally finished the novel I’ve been working on for the past few years. THE REPLACEMENT WIFE is due out in March. For those of you who have been asking, sorry for the long wait. I don’t do anything by halves, and this story proved more challenging than others I’ve written, thus it took extra time to hammer out all the kinks. I hope you’ll agree, after you’ve read it, that the wait was in service of a good book!
2011 also saw the re-launch of many of my earlier titles. This is exciting for me because there are many people who haven’t heard of me, or maybe weren’t old enough to read when those books were published, so now they can be introduced to my work. I am a storyteller, first and foremost, and for me it’s all about keeping an audience entertained. The bigger the audience, the better. I write the kind of novels I like to read; it’s that simple (though a bit more complicated in the execution).
I hope you’ve had a good year in the balance. If I can’t have it all, I’ll take what’s on offer, most of which is pretty darn good.
Oh, here’s a nice irony. My husband and I live a ten-minute walk from Times Square, but you know where we’ll be when the ball drops on New Year’s Eve? In bed, fast asleep.
