How I Went From Loner to Being In the Popular Crowd: My Life in Guest Blogs

What a month it’s been, and it’s not over yet!  Bones and Roses, Book One of my Cypress Bay mystery series was released August 5th.  I’m encouraged by the early positive reviews on Amazon and Goodreads.  I didn’t realize how nervous I was until I breathed a huge sigh of relief. Seems I’m off to a good start! Thank you for joining me on my journey. I’m glad you found it an enjoyable ride. If you’re new to my books, welcome on board. There’s room for everyone.

The past couple weeks I did guest posts for some popular blog sites, figuring if I couldn’t bring the mountain to Mohammed I’d go to the mountain. Wow, is all I can say. I got loads of comments from enthusiastic readers and other indie authors alike. It’s a brave new world, this indie publishing, but it seems I’m not alone.

My post on Pro Blogger, “Five Tips from a Bestselling Author (and former Luddite) on Overcoming Blog Phobia,” created a landslide of Tweets. Thanks to Joel Friedlander, I have a whole slew of new Twitter followers. I also give myself a pat on the back. Thanks to my own persistence I’ve moved from the Stone Age into the Industrial Era.

On Jane Friedman, I delve into “Why I Made the Leap from Traditional to Indie Publishing.” That alone generated a whopping 80+ comments. Jane has a huge following and rightfully so.  Her site is a wellspring of tips on writing and maximizing social media.

The Book Designer takes you on my “Scenic Route to Self-Publishing.”

For more about my journey to self-publishing, check out my post, “Don’t Look Down: How I Survived the Leap from Traditional to Indie Publishing” on Fresh Fiction.

Take a photo journey with me to the Northern California seaside town where it all began—my writing career and my more recent career shift–on the Randall St. Germain’s blog Camino My Way.

J’adore Sexy Grammarian. Thank you, Kristi, for hosting me on your fun and fabulous site.

To find out just how un-glamorous an author book tour can be, read my cringe-worthy post on Nicole’s Nickels, “The Day I Was the Flashing Blue Light Special.” True story!

Since I joined the ranks of mystery authors I’ve been following some awesome mystery sites. I was delighted to be hosted by two of my favorites. In “Will Write For Food,” on Patricia Stoltey I talk about my early struggles as a writer. On Type M for Murder, I cover my current cares and woes in “Things That Go Bump In the Night.”

More to come.  Stay tuned for the next chapter in the Cypress Bay mystery saga!

Author

I’m a writer by day, wife of a film critic by night. Be careful what you tell me or it might end up in one of my novels. I come from a large family with a few skeletons rattling around in the closet. I’m also a mom and serial wife (as my current and forever husband calls me—you may have guessed he’s not my first). Luckily my friends and family are still speaking to me, and readers continue to read what I’ve written. Maybe because I’m not afraid to go there. So, please, pull up a chair if you dare.
