The other day a character in the mystery novel I’m writing fell off a cliff. I wasn’t anticipating this, so it came a bit of shock, though I quickly realized my Muse had steered me in the right direction because this opened the way to a new wrinkle I hadn’t previously considered. This is one of the things I love most about being a writer, that it’s never ever boring and every day at my desk brings new surprises. My current work-in-progress features a heroine much like myself, who’s hit some snags in life but has the grit and determination to keep going. Even when she discovers the skeletal remains of her long-missing mother in a footlocker. For Aggie Ballard it’s a call to action, and she’s just the gal for the job of finding her mom’s killer.
More on that later, when I share excerpts. For the time being she’ll have to watch her step so isn’t the next to fall off a cliff!
