Temps promised in the 70’s today. I can’t wait. My shorts & t-shirts can’t wait. Spring/summer cannot arrive soon enough to this winter-battered city of ours. After enduring 3 solid weeks of rain during my writer’s retreat, I am still wringing myself out.
Saturday night I went to my first black-tie event in God knows how long. Sandy was emceeing a fundraiser for the Pelham Picture House, a beautiful old theatre that’s been restored, and I was an attendee. Wow, what a night. It was quite the gala affair, with actor Mathew Modine as the celebrity guest speaker. Though this gal was ready for beddy-bye long before the final round of applause.
It’s been ages since I’ve stayed up that late and ages more since I went formal. I wore velvet slacks and had to hunt through my drawers for a pair of knee-highs to go with them that didn’t have rotted elastic! As it was, the one pair I did find that looked okay ended up around my ankles by evening’s end.
So much for the glamorous life of an author.
